One of the delights of being in a new place is seeing what comes up in the garden. Some plants are familiar, like the regal irises that are about to burst into bloom out front. But in the back there have been surprises like the gigantic fern nestled beneath the noble fir – clearly that is a shade-loving fern.
And the other day I found a lovely green plant with bell-like pendulous flowers. Had to look that one up in my plants of Oregon and Washington book – it’s Solomon’s Seal.
The curving branches inspired another earring design; if I’d had pearls with the right size holes they would be silver and pearl, but instead they are silver with glossy black and knobbly silver beads. Yep, I’m still having fun!
